Ammouliani is a small island ( only 4.5 square kilometers) with one village and less than 600 inhabitants. The island belonged to Mount Athos and was used for grazing animals and the cultivated olive . During the Asia Minor Catastrophe in the early 1920s , the monks gave the island to a handful of refugees who came from the islands of Gallimi , Passalimani and brooms in Asia Minor . The refugees were involved in fishing, which is even the main preoccupation until today , while slowly builds from the beginning of life and their homes to their new island . Over the years , the island was discovered by tourism and today , tourists who come here still mainly Greeks. Ammouliani is still unknown to foreign tourists making the island an ideal holiday destination for those wanting to experience the real Greece .

The island includes local health services and pharmacy , quaint seaside tavernas , traditional grill , grocery stores , bakeries , shops , cafes, bars , and nightclubs . Also you can explore the island on motorbikes and bicycles , while boats and kayaks also available for rent to explore the sea and the coast .

You can even use your free time knowing the whole island , making the sail boat or a cruise to the monasteries of Mount Athos .
