Odysseia organizes quality horse riding holidays on the sunny island of Crete in Greece.

Our horse riding holidays include a stay in our own Equestrian Country Hotel Veláni**** with swimming pool and half board, the horse riding with a professional guide and good horses. The equestrian centre and hotel are located on a 4 hectare large estate close to the village Avdou.
The different horse riding holidays we offer are:
The Lassithi Trek, an adventurous guided or unguided trail (6 riding days) for the experienced rider, taking you over the Dikti Mountains to the Libyan Sea.
Or the Panorama Rides, stay in the comfort of The County Hotel Veláni**** and ride every day out for a new beautiful day trip through the Lagada Valley. You prefer to combine the horse riding with relaxing or other activities than the Sunny Rides is ideal for you.
Groups are split according to their level of horse riding. You don't know any horse riding, no problem. We also offer a Starters Course in which we learn beginners horse riding in a safe environment and take you out for easy hacks in the end of the course.
In the equestrian centre you are also welcome for horse riding lessons, day trips or 2 hour horse rides.

Nature, wildlife, serene quietness and panoramic views combined with sports... Welcome to our Country Hotel****.

The country hotel has:

The estate is 3,5 hectare large and located in the country side of the village Avdou, in the province of Heraklion, on the island of Crete in Greece.

The moment you arrive on the hillside of the country hotel you immediately experience the serene quietness and the tremendous panoramic view. Under the hotel stretches the Lagada Valley with the Apposelemis River crossing through, above the hotel rise the red coloured peaks of the Dikti Mountains. Birds of prey, like the Griffon Vulture, glide along these peaks.
The estate is surrounded by protected Kermes Oak forest and olive groves stretching down to the valley. On the estate many protected trees and flowers can be found, like different types of beautiful orchids.

The country hotel suits its surrounding as it is built with real natural stones collected from the land it stands on, giving it a robust and natural look. The hotel has a neo-classic style creating a romantic atmosphere for long summer nights.

The main building houses the reception and a romantic bar with a large balcony on witch you can drink your Greek coffee or Rakí. In the main building you also find the Panorama Restaurant with its large terrace overlooking the riding place and the valley. The restaurant serves the Cretan diet which is famous for being healthy and the use of olive oil. The olive oil is our own produce by the olive grove of the estate.

Our small country hotel has 12 rooms which are grouped into 2 bungalows each housing 6 hotel rooms. The bungalows lay quietly separate from the main activities. The hotel rooms are large and comfortable and all have a tremendous view over the valley. Each hotel room has a large bathroom with bathtub.

Argyro's House, Agia Paraskevi, Crete

At the lower end of the village below the square and the church, this unsophisticated house has simple paved floors of local stone and is terraced on the hillside in a really quiet position with wonderful views over the countryside to the Libyan Sea.

Adorned with a generous swathe of bougainvillea, the partially covered entrance terrace has built in bench seating for alfresco dining and from here there are entrance doors to both the well equipped kitchen and the small adjoining living area, with built in sofas, fireplace and large dining table. A stone staircase off the living area leads up past a small shower room to the first floor, where there is one small double bedroom and a slightly larger twin bedroom, which has patio doors to a lovely private terrace with wrought iron balustrade and just incredible uninterrupted sea views. Both bedrooms at this level have sloping, beamed ceilings and there is a further small twin bedroom off the kitchen.

Built into a wall , at the back of a small courtyard to one side of the house, is a magnificent barbecue with a nearby shady olive tree encircled by a low wall and a lovely spot to put a cushion on a hot day.

Accommodation in a nutshell

All our five village houses command superb sea views and all have a minimum of two bedrooms, plus one shower room and of course, hot and cold running water. Each house has a well-equipped kitchen with an electric cooker and fridge-freezer and there’s an open fireplace in the living area which also has a small portable radio/CD Player. An innovative feature in many of the houses is full-length French windows in the first floor bedrooms, protected by wrought iron "Juliet" balustrades.

Each house has is equipped with two sunbeds and they all have fans in the bedrooms and mosquito nets over the beds..

5 traditional houses offer their services to you and your traveling ! Visitors charmed and always coming back to places known and loved tracks. In the square stone traditional village of Agia Paraskevi municipality of Lambi is the home of Emil . This is a reconstruction of an old country house , built at the root of a rock , which is a constituent element of . It's two floors , total area 80m2. The ground floor consists of a living room with fireplace , fully equipped kitchen and WC.

O floor has two bedrooms and toilet . The house can accommodate up to six people, and making use of the comfortable couch seating . In the courtyard , the visitor can spend moments of peace and relaxation and to use the BBQ. In the village there are shops catering and leisure pool with locals who work with hospitality . Ideally located for short breaks in clean and uniquely beautiful beaches and picturesque villages .

The traditional «George's House» Agia Paraskevi features breathtaking views of the Libyan Sea. It is built on the edge of the square of the village , with a tiled courtyard at the front enjoying the shade of an old bean . Beautifully decorated in soft pastel shades , the house is ideal accommodation for two to four people.

The open plan lounge has an L-shaped bench with fireplace on the opposite side , TV and portable radio / CD-player, a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine , cooker , fridge freezer and a small dining area and bathroom with walk-in shower and hairdryer . Among them , a wooden staircase leads to the upper floor. There are two bedrooms , one with two single beds and a double , which has a TV , all equipped with French windows and fans, with wonderful views over the village , the old church of Agia Paraskevi and the sea .

Next to the terrace , where there are two chairs , is the new village tavern which has a beautiful garden and swimming pool with grass all around for guests who want to enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing dip.
