Argyro's House, Agia Paraskevi, Crete

At the lower end of the village below the square and the church, this unsophisticated house has simple paved floors of local stone and is terraced on the hillside in a really quiet position with wonderful views over the countryside to the Libyan Sea.

Adorned with a generous swathe of bougainvillea, the partially covered entrance terrace has built in bench seating for alfresco dining and from here there are entrance doors to both the well equipped kitchen and the small adjoining living area, with built in sofas, fireplace and large dining table. A stone staircase off the living area leads up past a small shower room to the first floor, where there is one small double bedroom and a slightly larger twin bedroom, which has patio doors to a lovely private terrace with wrought iron balustrade and just incredible uninterrupted sea views. Both bedrooms at this level have sloping, beamed ceilings and there is a further small twin bedroom off the kitchen.

Built into a wall , at the back of a small courtyard to one side of the house, is a magnificent barbecue with a nearby shady olive tree encircled by a low wall and a lovely spot to put a cushion on a hot day.

Accommodation in a nutshell

All our five village houses command superb sea views and all have a minimum of two bedrooms, plus one shower room and of course, hot and cold running water. Each house has a well-equipped kitchen with an electric cooker and fridge-freezer and there’s an open fireplace in the living area which also has a small portable radio/CD Player. An innovative feature in many of the houses is full-length French windows in the first floor bedrooms, protected by wrought iron "Juliet" balustrades.

Each house has is equipped with two sunbeds and they all have fans in the bedrooms and mosquito nets over the beds..

In the square stone traditional village of Agia Paraskevi municipality of Lambi is the home of Emil . This is a reconstruction of an old country house , built at the root of a rock , which is a constituent element of . It's two floors , total area 80m2. The ground floor consists of a living room with fireplace , fully equipped kitchen and WC.

O floor has two bedrooms and toilet . The house can accommodate up to six people, and making use of the comfortable couch seating . In the courtyard , the visitor can spend moments of peace and relaxation and to use the BBQ. In the village there are shops catering and leisure pool with locals who work with hospitality . The traditional «George's House» Agia Paraskevi features breathtaking views of the Libyan Sea. It is built on the edge of the square of the village , with a tiled courtyard at the front enjoying the shade of an old bean . Beautifully decorated in soft pastel shades , the house is ideal accommodation for two to four people.

The open plan lounge has an L-shaped bench with fireplace on the opposite side , TV and portable radio / CD-player, a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine , cooker , fridge freezer and a small dining area and bathroom with walk-in shower and hairdryer . Among them , a wooden staircase leads to the upper floor. There are two bedrooms , one with two single beds and a double , which has a TV , all equipped with French windows and fans, with wonderful views over the village , the old church of Agia Paraskevi and the sea .

Next to the terrace , where there are two chairs , is the new village tavern which has a beautiful garden and swimming pool with grass all around for guests who want to enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing dip.

Rodialos is located in the middle of Crete’s northern coast, near the village of Panormon, on one of the island’s many rocky shores.
Surrounding the house, are organically cultivated gardens facing the Cretan Sea.
The architecture, the colours, the construction materials and the landscape, all evoke a strong recollection of Minoan Crete.

Since May 2009, Villa Rodialos and the non profit company Vassilis Damvoglou have established a three day cultural and environmental festival in the village of Panormon with theatre, music, exhibitions, seminars and a cycling race.

The house is built in harmony with the landscape and reflects the beauty of the Minoan era. Materials are traditional and natural: stone, earth and wood. The paints used are also naturally sourced, like those on a religious icon, and the colours are inspired by the surrounding palette. Rodialos is constructed for its inhabitants to live indoors and outdoors simultaneously. The life of the Ancient Greeks was in the open so there is no main entrance. Modern architecture is adapted to ancient memories, respectful of the geometry of the environment, allowing the house to cool naturally. Rodialos bears no superfluous elements; it is plain, unaffected yet functional, as all ancient Greek dwellings were.
The house can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people and provides all contemporary and necessary comforts:
The four spacious bedrooms (one of them en-suite, another with two hobs and a fridge) are simple, comfortable and accommodate up to eight people. There are three bathrooms all covered with white marble. Linen is changed and the house cleaned twice a week. Further services upon request.

The wide dining room, the terrace and the veranda can accommodate numerous guests for symposia, dinners and parties according to the weather. In the spacious living room there are two more beds for afternoon naps or to accommodate extra guests.
We provide central heating, three television sets (in the living room and two of the bedrooms), a landline, broadband internet and a stereo system. The main kitchen has a dishwasher, two refrigerators, a freezer and oven. In the second kitchen is a refrigerator, hobs and more than the necessary pots, plates and cutlery. A laundry room with washing machine, cleaning products, a drying rack and iron, is situated next to one of the bathrooms.
Lastly, you will find a large compost heap in the field for recycling residual waste (no oil, bread, pasta or meat).

Shortly after you pass Fournes village and before the historical Lakkoi-Skordalou, a sign will direct you towards the Botanical Park, to an unprecedented tour of the region’s magical nature and the creative imagination of the four brothers who dreamt of and realized this unique heaven on earth!

When you first see the park and its facilities, it is impossible to imagine that this is the same expanse of the 15-20 hectares which burnt to the ground in the fires of 2003, today literary reborn from its ashes. In the place of the grey landscape stands a walking, educational and entertainment park-unique in its kind in Crete – waiting for young and old, locals and foreigners, to get acquainted with the more than 150 species of fruit trees together with the dozens of herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants it hosts, while enjoying their walk through a lush natural environment. Thus you shall have the opportunity to truly appreciate the beauty which you will encounter.

The lush landscape is completed by the lake in the lower part of the part, offering accommodation and protection to ducks, geese and other water birds (and rare species), even to hawks that fly in the area. The park also has an open-air, stone atmospheric amphitheatre suitable for small (capacity for approximately 250 persons) events.

Depending on the time of the year, you will have the opportunity to enjoy flowers, plants and trees through all phases of their life-cycle, parallel to the various species of wild flora and fauna which they attract each season. Any time of the year you visit the Botanical Park, you will be impressed by the colors, fragrances and variety of species.
