OUR LITTLE STORY Santorini… Akrotiri beach… By the sea, lies for many years a small, traditional cave, build by Uncle Nikolas with his own hands when he was young. Made with lots of love and passion, the cave offered a kind of shelter to himself and his little boat. Always by his side was his wife, Aunt Efstathia, whom her “magical” cuisine made everybody crazy. Unforgettable Spiros Marinatos, headmaster of the excavation project in the archaeological place in Akrotiri, suggested to Uncle Nicolas to alter this shelter in a small tavern, for the hungry workmen of the excavation, offering them traditional and delicious treats such as tomatoballs, fava, “chloro” cheese, spaghetti with sauce and plenty of fresh fish. Over the years, the cave grew fast known to the visitors of the island, since after their visit at the excavation they used to direct to the beach to taste Aunt Efstathias’ popular snacks and the rich in taste and spice wine of Uncle Nicolas. In 1981, the “Cave of Nicolas” went on to their daughter, Margarita, who had learnt the art of cooking from Mr Marinatos wife. Her love for traditional cuisine and local products, that herself and her husband, Nicolas grow, gave her a Gourmet Prize, as the best traditional tavern for 2007-2008 in Santorini.Category: RESTAURANTS

Cave of Perama Ioannina
The Cave of Perama, Ioannina, is located in the southern hills of Goritsa hill, at the highest point of the center of Perama village, ten meters higher than the middle level of Lake Pamvotis and at an altitude of 480 meters. His feet are washed by Lake Pamvotis Ioannina, which became famous with the legend of Kyra-Frosini and Ali Pasha. Geographic data The flat plain of the basin develops around Lake Pamvotis and is surrounded by successive mountains and highlands. Its highest points are to the northwest, with Mount Mitsikeli (1811 m high) dominating, while the lower ones are east and south. In the center, located between the southern slopes of Mitsikeli, the hills of the city and the hill of Kastritsa, the lake of Ioannina is formed. Around Mitsikeli is Driskos (1278 m) with its eastern ends leading to the valley of Arachthos, Aetorrachi (1078 m.), Which develops between Arachthos and the hills of Avgous, Prophet Elias (1076 m), Megali Tsouka (1173 m above sea level) above Kosmira, Marmara (879 m), Tsouka (781 m high) and Pentalonia (al. 840 meters). The lake was previously communicating through a natural grove with Lake Lapis, in the northwestern part of the basin, which was drained during the 1950s to create the Lapista plain. Many limestone hills form a special landscape, linked to historic sites, such as Castricca, Bizani, Perama Cave and Gardenia Kastri. Geologically, the area belongs to the Ionian zone with limestones dominating. Occasionally, minimum bladder zones are encountered. The main water body of the area is Lake Pamvotis, which flows through several streams of the basin. The climate of the region is that of the mild Mediterranean type, with too many rains, frequent fogs and dry summer.
