GRAND MASTER PALACE

During the Italian restoration, in 1930, the building received its current layout, making it the headquarters, but also the residence of the Italian commander. In the halls of the first floor, visitors can admire the mosaics carried over from the Italians, mainly from secular and ecclesiastical buildings of Kos, in order to decorate the Palace. Apart from the impressive mosaics, there are also columns and capitals, medieval furniture, mirrors, paintings, candlesticks and other objects complete the decoration of the imposing edifice. On part of the ground floor of the Palace, in successive halls, it houses the permanent exhibition of 4th DAC entitled "Rhodes from early Christian times until its conquest by the Turks (1522)." Tickets: Full: € 2, Reduced: € 1 The Museum of Greek Folk Art is the central State museum which brings together works of modern cultural heritage. Rich collections include some 20,000 objects from the Greek space (mainland and islands) as well as areas where the Greeks acted. The collections chronologically cover the period from the mid-17th century. up to the 20th. The permanent exhibitions - with excellent examples of embroidery, weaving, local costumes, masquerades, shadow theater, silverware, metalwork, pottery, woodcarving, folk painting and stone sculpture - highlight the elements that shaped the cultural identity of the modern Greeks. The Museum of Greek Folk Art, includes four (4) Annexes: -The Main building on the street Kydathineon 17 which houses the main exhibition spaces, administrative offices, the library, the part of educational programs and events hall -The Mosque Tzisdarakis in Areos Street 1, wherein the 'Set' Ceramic Collection B.
