Agricultural Cooperative of Fruits and Vegetables Mandalos - O.P. Peaches, Nectarines & Apricots Edessa Pella Mandalo is a village located in the prefecture of Pella. Previously, until 1928, it was called Mandalovo. The name Mandalo comes from the verb mandalono which means to secure-to bind. The community was founded in the village in 1931. The first agricultural production was wheat and later tobacco. In 1934, the "Mandalos Agricultural Cooperative" was founded by the residents of the village who, in the five years 1980 - 1985, began the systematic planting of peach trees and abandoned traditional tobacco and wheat. They also cultivated apricots, olives and cherries to a lesser extent. Today, after all these years, the agricultural production of the cooperative is based on peaches, nectarines and apricots, offering quality products from our place throughout Pella and in regions throughout Greece. PRODUCTION of the products of the cooperative is done with special care and under strict monitoring by the scientific staff of the cooperative and within the framework of the Integrated Management System that applies and always in accordance with the international safety and quality systems (Global Hap. Argo 2.1 and 2.2). The products of the "Mandalos Agricultural Cooperative" are distinguished by their excellent taste, their excellent color and their nutritional value. The Agricultural Cooperative of its 180 members has set up a Producer Group consisting of 170 producers who exploit a total of 4,733 acres of olive groves producing high quality virgin olive oil. The headquarters are in the village of Panagia of the municipality of Minoa Pediadas. Objectives of OP-AS PANAGIAS which is formed on the initiative of the olive growers of PA PANAGIAS is: the optimization of production costs and return on investment in terms of environmental standards, the conduct of research and the development of initiatives on sustainable production methods, innovative practices, economic competitiveness and market developments, the promotion and provision of technical assistance for the use of environmentally sound cultivation practices and techniques, the promotion and provision of technical support for the use of production standards, the improvement of product quality and the development of products with a protected designation of origin or a protected geographical indication or products covered by a national quality label, the management of by-products and waste, in particular for the protection of water, soil and landscape quality and preservation or promotion of biodiversity, contributing to the sustainable use of natural resources and mitigating climate change, developing initiatives in the field of promotion and marketing. participation in support programs for the olive oil and table olive sector provided for in Article 29 of Regulation (EC) 1308/2013. ASEPOP VELVENTOU, The main product is the peach. is a healthy cooperative and an important lever of economic development for the region of Velvento Kozani, but also for the Greek economy. It has about 400 producers of active members who currently cultivate about 6,500 acres. It has managed to be known abroad, thanks to the excellent quality products it produces and all the modern cultivation methods it applies. Its products are located throughout Greece, while it also carries out significant exports to Central and Eastern European countries, mainly in Russia. The total volume of exports exceeds 3,250,000 kg. The export percentage reaches 40% of the total sales. The facilities of the cooperative are located in an area of about 25 acres, which houses administration offices, 11 cold rooms of controlled atmosphere, storage of pesticides, storage areas, sorting rooms. It also has a store in the central market of Athens in Renti. ASEPOP has prepared a study to expand its facilities, creating an additional 10 cold rooms, increasing the storage capacity of products by 2,000 tons. ASEPOP VELVENTOU permanently employs 10 employees, while during the peak summer period it employs up to 80 people, as seasonal staff.
