Originally founded as a central departmental museum of the Cyclades because Ermoupoli is the capital of the county and included exhibits from all the islands of the Cyclades. Later the establishment of local museums and other islands, most of the museum's findings are limited to findings from Syros and short of Amorgos and Kythnos. The most important museum's collection consists of finds from the settlement of Chalandriani, dating back to the 3rd millennium BC Very important are also the exhibits of the 600 graves of great scientific and historical value found in the same area and dated to the Hellenistic era. The museum also presents some chance finds from Syros, several tombstones and a few sculptures, including an Egyptian statuette in black granite has been donated to the museum and represents the high priest Anchapi.Category: MUSEUMS

In 2012, under the program "re-exposure of the Archaeological Museum of Tegea" (NSRF), the Museum is upgraded and a new report is created. This report includes, besides the exhibits, unpublished archival material and historical and archaeological information, presented in an original way in the last generation technology. ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF THASOS
Open: Summer: Tuesday to Synday 08:00-20:00 Monday closed The archaeological site of Thasos is open from 08:00-18:30 The ancient theatre is closed due to reconstruction. Tickets: Full: €2, Reduced: €1 The Museum is housed in a 1934 building, which was recently expanded. In 2004 the re-opening part of relics and the museum reopened its doors to the public after many years of inactivity. The first room is dedicated to Marina Sgouros. In this room presents photographs excavation work in Thassos (1911-1981), when French archaeologists discovered the ancient city and the excavations conducted by the French Archaeological School. Then it becomes a comprehensive presentation of settlement of Thassos from prehistoric times. Here's exposure to samples of archaic, classical, Hellenistic up to the Byzantine period. Open: Winter: From the 1st of November until the 31 of March 2010: 8:30-15:00 Tickets: Full: €2, Reduced: €1 The permanent exhibition of the Thebes Archaeological Museum comprises characteristic finds from Greek and foreign excavations conducted in Boiotia, which span the long chronological period from the Paleolithic to the Post-byzantine periods. Some of its collections are especially interesting because they are unique; for example the Near Eastern Bronze Age cylinder seals from the Theban palace in the Kadmeion, the Mycenaean larnakes from Tanagra, the Archa?c kouroi from Ptoon and the characteristic black stone Classical funerary stelai. It has been housed in a building, designed by architect Patroklos Karantinos since 1962 and it has been designated as a listed monument of modern heritage, as it is one of the most representative examples of architectural modernism in Greece. Its collections include artifacts and assemblages from excavations conducted since 1912 by the Greek Antiquities Service throughout Macedonia. The museum also houses objects that used to be part of private collections and were later donated to it. The Museum's exhibition proposal comprises of seven units, through which the visitors come in contact with the world of ancient Macedonia, its culture and its people: 1. Prehistoric Macedonia 2. Open: Tuesday-Sunday 8:30-15:30 Monday closed Tickets: Free admission The museum contains excavation finds from Aetos, dating from the Geometric to the Roman period and a remarkable collection of finds dated to the Geometric period. The most important items of the exhibition are: Ring-shaped vase. It has angular walls and is decorated with narrow bands on the sides of the ring, hatched triangles on the neck, and panels with diagonals on the handle. But the picture is not representative, as in the warehouses there are a number of important findings from prehistoric times (eg New Izmit), but also from the Iron Age (Cemetery tombs at Vergina). In the garden of the Museum there is also a large number of honorary and funerary altars and various types of inscriptions. Most important exhibit of the museum is the inscription with the "headmaster" Law of Veria (normative text of the operation of the High School of the ancient city).
