RODIALOS
Rodialos is located in the middle of Crete’s northern coast, near the village of Panormon, on one of the island’s many rocky shores. Surrounding the house, are organically cultivated gardens facing the Cretan Sea. The architecture, the colours, the construction materials and the landscape, all evoke a strong recollection of Minoan Crete. Symposia are alternative programs of Cretan cuisine with organic products, offering participants a real and high quality "taste of Crete". We also accommodate groups for yoga workshops, sailing, cycling and walking excursions, tai chi sessions and fishing; combining your holiday with a healthy lifestyle. Since May 2009, Villa Rodialos and the non profit company Vassilis Damvoglou have established a three day cultural and environmental festival in the village of Panormon with theatre, music, exhibitions, seminars and a cycling race. The house is built in harmony with the landscape and reflects the beauty of the Minoan era. Materials are traditional and natural: stone, earth and wood. The paints used are also naturally sourced, like those on a religious icon, and the colours are inspired by the surrounding palette. Rodialos is constructed for its inhabitants to live indoors and outdoors simultaneously. The life of the Ancient Greeks was in the open so there is no main entrance. Modern architecture is adapted to ancient memories, respectful of the geometry of the environment, allowing the house to cool naturally. Rodialos bears no superfluous elements; it is plain, unaffected yet functional, as all ancient Greek dwellings were. The house can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people and provides all contemporary and necessary comforts: The four spacious bedrooms (one of them en-suite, another with two hobs and a fridge) are simple, comfortable and accommodate up to eight people. There are three bathrooms all covered with white marble. Linen is changed and the house cleaned twice a week. Further services upon request. The wide dining room, the terrace and the veranda can accommodate numerous guests for symposia, dinners and parties according to the weather. In the spacious living room there are two more beds for afternoon naps or to accommodate extra guests. We provide central heating, three television sets (in the living room and two of the bedrooms), a landline, broadband internet and a stereo system. The main kitchen has a dishwasher, two refrigerators, a freezer and oven. In the second kitchen is a refrigerator, hobs and more than the necessary pots, plates and cutlery. A laundry room with washing machine, cleaning products, a drying rack and iron, is situated next to one of the bathrooms. Lastly, you will find a large compost heap in the field for recycling residual waste (no oil, bread, pasta or meat). Located in the heart of the White mountains of Chania, Villa Galatia is distant of 90 kilometers from Chania Airport. Ideal for mountain lovers that need quiet holidays it provides a peacefull and a very pleasant stay. The beach of Sfakia is distant only of 17 kilometers. In the village you will find super market, cafes and traditional taverns where you can enjoy the Cretan hospitality and spirit. Villa Galatia is a double floor stone built traditionnal Cretan Village house of 130 square metres and offers all the comforts to its guests. It consists of 3 main bedrooms that can accomodate 7 persons and 2 bathrooms. A wooden lader leads from one floor to the other. The first floor consists of the main area, kitchen,1 bathroom and 1 big bedroom consistent of a double bed and a large wardrobe. The second consists of 2 large bedrooms with spacious wardrobes and a TV set, and between the two you will find a spacious balcony with a breathtaking view. The one bedroom which is on the north side of our villa, consists of a double bed, a desk and a wardrobe. The second one on the south side consists of a double bed and a single one, as well as a veranda with a remarkable view of the White Mountains. Between the two bedrooms there is a large bathroom. In the main area on the first floor where sitting room, dining room and fully equiped kitchen are connected you will find a big fireplace,TV and WI-FI. The sofa in the sitting room turns into a single bed as well. There are 2 very big terraces outside where you can enjoy the unique mountain view,sense the mountain breeze with it's one of a kind odour and also have your meals. One is in front of the main entrance , the other conneted with the first floor is on the left side on a higher level from the ground. Every part of Villa Galatia is fully furnitured with renovated antiques and vintage acesories. You can also go hunting at the hunting centre for wild birds, while horse-riding, mountain biking, and bungee jumping on the Aradena Bridge (138m) are also options for activities. You may visit the Samaria Gorge, the largest gorge in Europe, which is a National Park and stretches 15km, as well as a host of other impressive gorges like that of Imvros, Aradena,Kallikratis, and not to mention, a number of caves. The mountain shelter of Tavris is also well-worth a visit, as its ideal location at an altitude of 1,200m offers an excellent view of the plateaus of Tavris and Niatos.
