  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF ARGOSTOLI

    Open: The Museum is closed from 27/1/2014   The old museum was destroyed by the earthquakes in 1953 and the new one was built in 1960. It iw now closed for the public, due the earthquake of 2014.   The museum houses antiquities from the island of Kefalonia, ranging from the prehistoric to the Roman periods. It also contains a remarkable collection of Mycenaean finds.   Exhibition Units   Room I: flint tools from the Paleolithic period   Hall II: findings from the Mycenaean period   Room III: fir tetrapolis the 5th century BC, consisting of four cities-states, Pali, Krani, Pronnoi and Sami

  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF VATHI

    Open: Tuesday-Sunday 8:30-15:30   Monday closed   Tickets: Free admission   The museum contains excavation finds from Aetos, dating from the Geometric to the Roman period and a remarkable collection of finds dated to the Geometric period.   The most important items of the exhibition are:   Ring-shaped vase. It has angular walls and is decorated with narrow bands on the sides of the ring, hatched triangles on the neck, and panels with diagonals on the handle. Dated to the end of the Late Geometric period.   Votive inscription that mentions goddesses Athena and Hera. It was found at Polis Cave and dates from the Late Archaic period.

  • CORGIALENIOS MUSEUM

    Open: Monday-Saturday: 09:00-14:00   Tickets: Full: €3, Reduced: €1,5   The purpose of the Corgialenios Historical and Folklore Museum of Argostoli is the research, record, study and promotion of the history of Kefalonia, from the 16th century and during all foreign possessions, and after the union with Greece, as the destructive earthquakes of 1953, which eliminated almost completely the particular elements of the material culture. Also, the study and promotion of the folklore of the place and the daily life of people, as it is formed either in the cities or at the periphery. Also, the study of religious art and religious habits of the inhabitants of Kefalonia.   The permanent exhibition of the Corgialenios Folklore Museum is divided in sections: Urban section Agricultural section Ecclesiastical art City plan
