    Thrace Tobacco Growers’ Cooperative ♦  ♦  ♦ The Consortium of Tobacco Growers’ Unions of Agricultural Cooperatives of Rodopi & Evros is based in Komotini (Vasileios Pavlou 9) and was established in 2000, replacing the Tobacco Growers’ Group of Rodopi and Evros Prefectures. The union of the two groups occurred because the Evros group did not meet the required quantity stipulated by European regulations. Today, they form a single legal entity, which has both a statutory and practical obligation and responsibility to manage and support its tobacco-growing members. The establishment of the tobacco growers’ consortium was a major achievement, as it provided a cooperative structure and representation for approximately 6,000 tobacco growers that it currently counts. Tobacco growers in Thrace, besides cultivating tobacco, also grow cereals, cotton, tree crops, and various other agricultural products. The cooperative represents and tirelessly advocates for the welfare and interests of its producer members. The cooperative holds a certificate of integrated management, in accordance with the AOKO 2.1 and AOKO 2.2 standards. The renowned and high-quality Thrace tobacco, recognized worldwide, represents a heritage from our ancestors and a legacy for our children.
