ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF EPIDAVRUS

Tickets: Full: €6, Reduced: €3 Special ticket package: Full: €6, Reduced: €3 for the museum and the archaeological site Valid for: Archaeological Museum of Asklepeion Epidaurus, Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus The Archaeological Museum of Epidaurus is situated within the Archaeological Site of the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus, which was the metropolis of all Asclepeia the ancient world. It was built to house the many important findings of the multi-annual excavation of the Sanctuary of Asklepios (1881-1928), conducted by the archaeologist Panagis Kavvadia and Archaeological Society. The exhibits date from the Archaic to the Roman era. The kind of exhibits varies and includes inscriptions, medical instruments, simas ancient buildings, crown tiles, reliefs, large statues and many offerings of small size, and large sections of significant ancient buildings from the sanctuary of Asclepius: a) Propylaea, b) Temple of Asclepius, c) Temple of Artemis, d) Tholos Epidaurus, e) and the known major unfinished Corinthian capital found near Dome. Also in the museum are exhibited casts of important sculptures such as the Health 4th c. Venus (Roman copy), Asclepius (Roman era), the pediments of the temple of Asklepios, the capes of the temple of Artemis and reliefs, which are located at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.Category: MUSEUMS

It contains finds from the surrounding area of Eretria that chronologically cover the periods from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman times. This major archaeological themes such as pottery, sculpture, silverwork, weapons that give an indicative picture of the culture that developed in this region and its inhabitants. The most famous exhibits in public, much more in the scientific community are small clay centaur from the cemetery of Lefkandi, the earliest representation of this mythical being, and the sculpture complex of Theseus with the Amazon Antiope from the west pediment of the Late Archaic temple Apollo Eretria.Category: MUSEUMS

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF IGOUMENITSA

Chronologically, the exhibits cover all archaeological periods from the Middle Palaiolithic (100.000 BC) to the Post Byzantine period (17th cent. AD.). They represent a variety of categories, such as metalwork, stonework, architecture, sculpture, pottery, coinage, jewellery, miniature art, glass industry, organic residues etc. They derive from rescue excavations carried out in the entire prefecture of Thesprotia and constitute the material witnesses of various expressions of human life throughout all historical periods. ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF IOANNINA

The exhibits cover a long period, from the first appearance of man in Epirus, during the Lower Palaeolithic age 250,000 years ago, until the twilight of late antiquity in the late Roman period (3rd century AD.). Particular emphasis is given to the findings from the sanctuary of Dodona which are displayed in a room dedicated exclusively to one of the major oracles of the Greek world. The multifaceted exhibition presentation aims to illuminate various aspects of private and public life of Epirus in antiquity. More specifically, the modules are distributed in showrooms as follows: As the starting point museological flow on the main runway, operates one graphic apodosmeni walkthrough in historical time, a timeline (timeline): this presents the major historical events that took place in Epirus (and most important archaeological sites), which are collated procedures and in the history of the rest of Greece. Build to mainly house the findings of previous excavations, the antiquities that were collected from the Ceos antiquarian Konstantinos Manthos and excavation finds from prehistoric settlements in Kefalas and Agia Irini, and later housed the ancient surface investigations conducted in the decade 1980 and finally, the incidental findings. It is a two storey building, without particular characteristics, dominated by the many windows along the halls of the two floors. On the ground floor are the service areas of the guest (ticket office, shop visual material and WC) as well as the maintenance workshop and warehouses. The report develops in two floors, starting chronologically from the second floor to the Prehistoric Collection (3300 - 1100 BC) and continues on the first floor, with the Collection of Historical Times (7os cent. BC - 2nd c. AD). The recapitulation of the Archaeological Museum of Kea, presented in a modern and inventive way the old exhibits, and given the opportunity to present important findings to date had not been exposed, such as large clay female statues from the prehistoric settlement of Agia Irini (15th century . BC) and the reconstruction effort of the pediments of the Temple of Athena in Karthaia (500-490 BC). The walls, display cases and pedestals report objects, have color in shades of blue. The internal lighting of display cases in conjunction with the natural Cycladic diffused light through the windows, it gives an excellent result. The exhibition is accompanied with visual material, tables and maps that will help the visitor to understand the history of ancient Kea. Exhibition Units: 1. Prehistoric Collection - second floor, 2. ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF KILKIS

The exhibition has been enriched with numerous items revealed by the recent, systematic excavations conducted in the area. The display of the excavation finds from the Old Gynaikokastro, organized in 1991, left almost no free space in the museum itself and the storerooms, and an extension became necessary. After the approval of the study by the Central Archaeological Council, the building will soon be enlarged. The presentation of the exhibits is done in chronological sequence, but the disruption of local excavation totals. The aim of the exhibition was to present selected and representative findings of the major archaeological sites, which are Brunei to offer the visitor all the necessary information on the prehistory and history of the Aegean Thrace. ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF KYTHERA

The building was constructed in 1911 in order to shelter the Kytheraic Union and it was donated to the Greek Ministry of Culture in 1975. In 1981 it was renovated in order to house the finds of the excavations and in 1991, a room (xenon) was added. The museum contains the Minoan finds from the excavations of Palaeopolis. The most important items of the museum are: Archaic lion from Kythera. Various prehistoric finds. Pottery and stone artefacts dated to the Minoan period, found in Palaeopolis. Minoan pottery. ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF LAVRIO

Hall 1 is dedicated to the mining and metallurgical activities in Laureotiki in antiquity. Emphasis is placed on inscriptions relating to mining laboratories. In Hall 2 exhibited pottery, tools and stone jewelry from Kitsos Cave, inhabited in the Neolithic period (6 to 5 thousand BC), vessels and other offerings from the cemeteries of Thorikos and the region of Sounion (8th - 4th century BC) and finds from sanctuaries and residential complexes in various positions of Lavrion. Important place in the Museum occupied by relief plaques from the frieze of the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, and funerary and votive statues and reliefs from ancient townships of Lavrion.
